In search of a unique sound that melds modern rock and acoustic pop in an unconventional way? Look no further than Starfield, whose self-titled album (EMI-Sparrow, 12 songs, 51 minutes) hits on all cylinders from the first moment to when the final song fades away.

Voted Canada's Vibe Artist of the Year, Starfield, a four-man band, takes a worshipful approach to its songs, delivering the goods on tunes such as "Filled With Your Glory," "Ordinary Life" and "Alive in This Moment."

- Former Topekan Tracie Peterson continues her prolific work in historical Christian romance novels with "Land of My Heart" (Bethany House, softcover, 392 pages, $12.99), the first installment of the "Heirs of Montana" series. The new book, which recounts the history of Peterson's new home in Montana, is filled with outlaws, adventurers and desperate families who are heading west in the 1860s. Peterson has more than 1 million books sold, placing her near the top of her genre.

- Newsong's "More Life" (Reunion Records, 12 songs, 54 minutes) offers a surprisingly refreshing mix of pop songs, all featuring the group's traditional layered harmonies. Flawless in every respect, the five-man vocal band shines on tunes such as "Back Where You Belong," "Cherish" and "Life in My Day," a tune which recounts the harried way people live in this day and age.
