Local hospital needs gift shop volunteers

The Volunteer Center of Topeka has the following volunteer opportunities available:

- A local hospital is looking for help in its gift shop on Tuesday afternoons and Thursday afternoons and/or Saturday mornings.

- Special Olympic Bowling is coming to Topeka on Saturday and volunteers are needed between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. to ensure the correct athlete is bowling at the correct time and to monitor the scoring machines.

- Help high-risk children with their reading in the evenings and under the direction of a certified teacher.

- A nonprofit agency is looking for volunteers to answer the phone, file papers and meet the public on Monday mornings, Tuesday afternoons and/or Friday afternoons.
