While they have quick access to four-year colleges, students in northeast Kansas may choose to start their post-secondary education at smaller institutions.
Within easy driving distance of Topeka are:
Allen County Community College
ACCC's Burlingame campus, built in 1991 as a joint venture with Burlingame Unified School District 454, serves more than 700 students per semester. Just 25 miles south of Topeka, it serves students from Shawnee and Osage counties as well as the surrounding areas.
A full range of transfer-oriented classes is offered, including general education, business and computer classes. Students may enroll in associate degree programs or take specific courses for transfer.
Most classes offered at the Burlingame campus meet only once a week. A full range of classes is offered during the day and evening. Workshops and telecourses are offered on weekends.
Classes follow ACCC's agreements with Regents schools and area universities to ensure transferability.
