NEW FACES
Neil F.M. McKay has been appointed to fulfill the remainder of a three-year term on the board of directors of FHLBank Topeka, a wholesale financial institution for banks, thrifts, credit unions and insurance companies. His term expires Dec. 31, 2008. McKay was previously the chief financial officer and treasurer of Capitol Federal Savings.
Scott A. Grosskreutz has joined the law firm of Cavanaugh, Smith & Lemon P.A. to practice in the areas of general civil litigation and appellate law. Previously, Grosskreutz was a research attorney for the Kansas Court of Appeals Central Research. He obtained a juris doctorate the from Washburn University School of Law and has a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
Brenda Guilfoyle has joined United Way of Greater Topeka as assistant director of resource development. She works with companies and volunteers during the annual campaign as well as assisting with the Loaned Employees Program and Young Leaders Society. Guilfoyle has experience in sales, marketing and public relations. She spent three months in 2006 as a loaned employee at United Way of Greater Topeka.
Tom Stringer has joined IMA of Kansas Inc.'s Topeka office as a sales executive. Stringer will focus on property and casualty risk management solutions for Topeka area businesses. Before joining IMA, Stringer was the head football coach at Hayden High School for 15 seasons.
Renee Jackson has joined Creative Hair Designs, 3300 S.W. Topeka Blvd., as an independent stylist offering hair care for the entire family. Jackson specializes in relaxers, perms, color, cuts, up- dos, quick styles, gray hair care, roller set and more. She can be reached at 267-0289. Hours are 5:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
PROMOTIONS
Tami Morris, to assistant vice president with Community National Bank. Morris has been with CNB for eight years. She manages the deposit services and the main bank operations staff.
Anne Weigel, to assistant vice president with Community National Bank. Weigel joined CNB a year ago and will continue to focus on commercial and real estate lending.
Erik Evans, to branch and operations officer with Community National Bank. Evans has been with CNB for four years and oversees the Internet banking function and other banking operations functions. He continues to manage the Holliday Square Branch.
Steve Newell, to market president at Central National Bank in Topeka. Newell is a commercial lender and mortgage lender with 15 years of banking experience. He has worked at Central National Bank's branch at 800 S.E. Quincy in downtown Topeka for 15 years. Newell is now responsible for the bank's two Topeka branch locations, which offer full-service banking in addition to trust and insurance services.

Kansas Department of Transportation employees from northeast Kansas celebrating state years-of-service anniversaries in May include: 30 years - Thomas Eisenbarth, engineering technician specialist, Topeka; 20 years - Patricia Ahlenius, applications developer III, Topeka; Michael Havenstein, senior administrative assistant, Topeka; Daniel Kahler, senior administrative assistant, Topeka; Ronald Schwindamann, equipment operator senior, Marysville; and Mark Scott, equipment mechanic senior, Everest; 10 years - Robert Foye Jr., engineering technician, Lane; and Benton Wood, equipment operator senior, Lebo.
New officers for the Kansas Optometric Association include Dr. Jeannette L. Holland, Oskaloosa, president-elect; and Dr. Lewis J. LaPierre, Salina, secretary-treasurer. Officers were installed during the KOA's convention April 19-21. Also during the meeting, the 2007 Distinguished Service Award was given to Todd J. Fleischer, Topeka, for service to the profession and citizens of Kansas. Debbie Collins, Meriden, was recognized for 30 years of service to the association, and Gary L. Robbins, Topeka, was recognized for 25 years as executive director of the Kansas Optometric Association. Topeka optometrists attending were Drs. Charles Beier, Terry Carney, Diana Carriger, W.A. Carriger Jr., Chris Deutscher, Robert Godwin, Tara Hake, Larry Harris, Bill Hefner, Michael Malone, David Nelson, Randall Pohlenz and Charles Schaible.
