There will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 3 p.m. Thursday to celebrate the new ownership of Bobo's Drive-In, 2300 S.W. 10th St.

Richard and Tricia Marsh purchased the business April 30 from Bob Humes for an undisclosed amount.

Humes owned the restaurant for about 19 years. Bob Bobo founded the business.

"We don't plan to change a thing," Tricia Marsh said. "It's been a tradition. We are making dishes the same way, using the same family recipes. Nothing is going to change."

Actually, starting June 1, the new owners plan to keep the business open Monday-Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., extending the time it closes by one hour.

The Marshes retained the restaurant's 18 employees. Some employees have worked at Bobo's for more than two decades and knew the founder.

Richard Marsh, 32, is owner of the Oil Butler, a mobile mechanic business. He is from Topeka. Tricia Marsh, 33, is from California. They have been married for 13 years. The Marshes are longtime fans of Bobo's.

"We love Bobo's. It's been a part of Topeka for a long time," Tricia Marsh said.

She said Bobo's will still employ car hops who take orders from and deliver food to customers in their cars.

Bobo's suffered extensive fire damage in 2003 but reopened after three months of remodeling.
