The 2nd District Court of Appeal rejected an argument by Simpson that the Los Angeles Superior Court no longer had jurisdiction over him because he now lives in Florida.

Fred Goldman filed a renewal in October 2006 because Simpson has refused to pay the $33.5 million judgment that would have automatically expired on March 10. The judgment has grown to about $40 million, with interest.

Goldman's lawyer David Cook said the renewal will not expire for another 10 years and can be renewed again at that time if the full judgment isn't received.1885 - The Washington Monument was dedicated.

NEW YORK - PETA thinks Aretha Franklin is no queen of soul when it comes to wearing fur.

Franklin was crowned this year's worst-dressed celebrity by the animal rights organization. Her crime: wearing "yet another vulgar fur" at the Grammy Awards.

"You looked as if you were going to perform 'I Am the Walrus' by the Beatles," People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals said Wednesday of Franklin's appearance. "You might be a queen, but you don't know jack about compassion."

"How 'bout some R-E-S-P-E-C-T for animals?" PETA also said.

The other offenders are Marilyn Manson, Eva Longoria ("in her trashy furs, she looks like the streetwalker of Wisteria Lane"), Lindsay Lohan, Kate Moss and Kylie Minogue.Powerball $103.5 million

WASHINGTON - A missile launched from a Navy ship struck a dying U.S. spy satellite passing 130 miles over the Pacific on Wednesday, the Pentagon said.

It wasn't clear whether the operation succeeded in its main goal of destroying a tank aboard the satellite that carried a toxic fuel that U.S. officials said could pose a hazard to humans if it landed in a populated area.

"Confirmation that the fuel tank has been fragmented should be available within 24 hours," the Pentagon said in a written statement.
