Local & state: Adams, Blocker headed to Division I basketball
Two former city basketball standouts - Topeka West graduate Girod Adams and Seaman product Dallas Blocker - are headed to Division I schools after playing two seasons at Cloud County Community College in Concordia.
Adams will attend Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas while Blocker will attend Youngstown State in Youngstown, Ohio.
Adams averaged eight points and led 21-12 Cloud County in assists and steals while Blocker averaged 5.9 points and 3.9 rebounds this past season.
Deadline to sign up for the Topeka Golf Association Four-Man Best Ball is April 25. The tournament will be held May 3-4 at Western Hills Golf Course and entry fee is $240 per team. Entry forms can be picked up at local golf shops or at www.topekagolf.org.
ROB MUSGRAVE, a senior pitcher for Wichita State and Santa Fe Trail graduate, and Kansas State's Brett Scott have been named as two of 10 finalists for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award in baseball. The award is given annually to student-athletes who excel in four main areas - classroom, community, character and competition.
Musgrave is 4-1 with a 2.55 ERA for the Shockers, while also sporting a 3.76 GPA in accounting.
Football: Chiefs sign fullback
The Kansas City Chiefs signed fullback John Paul Foschi to a two- year deal Wednesday.
Foschi played 11 games for Oakland in 2004-06 after being promoted from the Raiders' practice squad. He played 10 games in 2005, finishing the season with six receptions for 37 yards, and one in 2006 before being released.
Edward P. Roski Jr., a part owner of the Kings and Lakers who has spent several years trying to lure the NFL back to the Los Angeles area, believes his latest concept for a stadium could help finally land a team.
Roski will unveil his idea for a stadium today in the City of Industry, near the southern intersection of the 57 and 60 freeways some 20 miles east of Los Angeles, said John Semcken, vice president of Majestic Realty, Roski's real estate company.

Basketball: Hannah pleads guilty
Former Missouri basketball player Stefhon Hannah has pleaded guilty to a reduced charge in the midseason fight outside a downtown Columbia nightclub that ultimately led to his removal from the team.
Tuesday morning, hours before he was scheduled to go to trial, Hannah agreed to accept a reduced charge of peace disturbance by fighting with an Athena kitchen worker. He was sentenced to two years of unsupervised probation and 20 hours of community service.
Indiana Pacers co-owner Herb Simon announced Wednesday that he is moving into day-to-day operations as chairman and CEO of Pacers Sports and Entertainment after years of mostly hands-off ownership.
