A car-motorcycle accident Monday evening on the city's south side sent one man to the hospital with injuries that weren't believed to be life-threatening.

The accident also closed a busy street for more than half an hour at the peak of rush hour.

The crash was reported just after 5 p.m. at S.W. 37th and Plaza Drive.

Police officer David Gogian said a Harley-Davidson motorcycle that was traveling east on S.W. 37th collided with a black Honda Accord automobile that was turning west onto S.W. 37th from a stop sign at S.W. Plaza Drive.

The motorcycle was traveling in the northernmost lane of eastbound S.W. 37th, a five-lane street at that location.

Gogian said the Honda car had been waiting for traffic to clear before it pulled into the intersection.

The motorcycle's driver wasn't wearing a helmet, Gogian said. The car's driver was reported to be uninjured.

S.W. 37th was closed from S.W. Topeka Boulevard on the east to S.W. Kirklawn on the west while the scene was cleared .
