The Shawnee County Sheriff's Office is accepting applications for its Crime Prevention Academy, a 14-week program to learn basic crime prevention information to keep individuals, families and neighborhoods safe. The academy will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays from Sept. 10 to Dec. 10 at the Law Enforcement Center. For an application or information: (785) 368-2265.
Community Action Inc.'s free school supplies program for students from income-eligible families, applications taken from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at 621 S.E. Swygart.
