Free admission at the Topeka Zoo for fathers with one paid admission on Father's Day . Zoo hours on Sunday are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. A NASCAR simulator will be on display, and Heartland Park Topeka will be giving away tickets, while the supply lasts, to the American Drag Racing League event July 3 and 4.
AREA EVENTS
Artist Stan Herd will visit with the public at 1:30 p.m. today during tours of his earthwork portrait of Amelia Earhart on a hill overlooking Warnock Lake in Atchison. At 3:30 p.m., he will be at the Santa Fe Depot, 200 S. 10th, at a reception for the Kansas Lottery and Kansas Scenic Byways. Information: (800) 234-1854.
The Brown family of Brown v. Board of Education will be one of the honorees at the "Tribute to Trailblazers" on June 27 at the Wichita Marriott, 9100 Corporate Hills Drive. American Legion Post 400 fundraiser chicken fry, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday , 3029 N.W. US-24 highway. Menu: chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn and bread. Cost: $8 adults, $5 for ages 7 to 12 and free for those younger. Open to the public.
