Daily Record (Rochester, NY), Mar 31, 2004 by Staff

The University at Buffalo Law School will host the 15th Annual Students of Color Dinner at 6 p.m. on Friday, April 2, at the Buffalo/ Niagara Marriott.

Each year the Latin American Law Students Association (LALSA), the Black Law Student Association (BLSA) and the Asian American Law Student Association (AALSA) host the Students of Color Dinner celebrating the graduation and achievements of their senior members. This year's keynote speaker will be Carlos Rodriguez class of 1976, the first attorney of Puerto Rican descent to work at the Attorney General's Office in Rochester.

The Students of Color (SOC) will also honor Lenora Foote, a 1997 graduate, with the Trailblazer Award in recognition for her contribution to the law students at UB. Foote currently serves on the board of the UB Law Alumni Association's GOLD Group.

Recently, the law school had four successful alumni named in the Black Enterprise magazine's Top 100 Black Lawyers List. UB had more alumni recognized than Stanford, New York University, UC Berkeley, University of Pennsylvania, Georgetown and Yale. These four alumni -- Vincent Dunn '89, Michael A. Battle '81 , Brent Wilson '76 and Michael C. Banks '89 - will receive the Students of Color Distinguished Alumni Award.

The SOC Dinner Committee also will present two substantial Lift As We Climb Scholarships to high school students from the Buffalo area.

Questions regarding the dinner should be directed to Yadira A. Ramos via e-mail yaramos@buffalo.edu.
