In a year when design firms generated $24.15 billion in revenues outside their home countries, St. Louis-based HOK was the top- ranked architect-engineer in international design for 2004. That's according to a newly published survey of international design firms by Engineering News Record, a national trade publication. HOK also placed highest among architect-engineer firms in global design, which includes all work worldwide.
The firm's design work outside the United States generated $142.2 million in 2004, making it No. 1 among architect-engineer firms. The international assignments accounted for 43 percent of HOK's $325 million in total revenue. HOK was active in 48 countries in 2004. Key projects include:
* Torre La Nacion in Buenos Aires, Argentina, a 650,000-square- foot building that is the headquarters of the internationally recognized newspaper, La Nacion
* Barclays Canary Wharf headquarters in London, a 31-story office tower in the Docklands section of London's business and banking district
* Dasve Village in Maharashtra, India, an 8,000-acre master- planned Hill Station community in the Mose Valley of India
The firm netted the same No. 1 ranking as top architect-engineer in the Building Design & Construction Top 300 Giants compendium, published in July 2005. It was also the top-ranked architect- engineer firm in international design in the BDC survey and No. 5 overall.
