Pomeroy Computer to purchase Global
Journal Record, The (Oklahoma City), Mar 2, 1998 by Leigh Jones Journal Record Staff Reporter
Pomeroy Computer Resources will acquire Oklahoma City-based Global Combined Technologies, an $80 million computer retailer.
Pomeroy, based in Hebron, Ky., is one of the country's five largest network integrators and has 27 facilities in 14 states. Pomeroy's reported revenues for the fiscal year ended Jan. 5 equaled $491 million.
Global's President Dean Higganbotham said the acquisition will not affect the company's 127 employees, 85 of whom are in Oklahoma City. Global also has facilities in Tulsa and Dallas. One of Oklahoma City's largest computer retailers, Global has key accounts in education and government, Higganbotham said. "This will give us many more financial resources," Higganbotham said. Whether Global will retain its name is "up in the air," he said. Higganbotham will remain president of the company, and other management positions will not change. "The company is well managed and profitable and the principals will sign multi-year agreements," said Pomeroy's CEO Stephen E. Pomeroy. The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Higganbotham said he expects the deal to close in 30 days, subject to SEC approval
