Clipped wings

CHICAGO (Bloomberg) -- U.S. companies are scaling back their travel spending as concerns grow that the United States could follow other regions of the world into an economic slowdown. The National Business Travel Association said that 69 percent of 450 Fortune 1000 companies surveyed between Oct. 5-8 said they tightened their travel spending in the last 30 days in response to deteriorating economic conditions.
