PRSA presents Upper Case Awards, other honors

OKLAHOMA CITY (JR) -- The Oklahoma City Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America presented 16 Upper Case Awards and three other honors at a banquet on Friday.
OGE Energy took three of the Upper Case Awards with two each going to Kerr-McGee, the Oklahoma Department of Transportation and the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce.
OGE Energy's awards were for magazines, four color; annual reports, four color; and feature stories.
Kerr-McGee received Upper Case Awards for internal communications and newsletters, one to three colors.
The Oklahoma Department of Tourism received awards for special events and straight news.
The Greater Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce received Upper Case Awards for marketing/public relations and visual.
Other Upper Case Awards went to Moore Norman Technology Center for public relations materials, one to three colors; Atkinson Advertising Associates, public relations materials, four color; Advantage Marketing Systems, newsletters, one to three colors; Omniplex, newsletters, four color; University of Oklahoma Visitors Center, audio; Education World, Web page design; and the Oklahoma Office of Attorney General, media relations.
More than 80 entries were received for the Upper Case Awards. The PRSA chapter in Wichita, Kan., judged the contest.
In addition to the Upper Case Awards, three honors were announced during the banquet.
Norman's Judi Knapp of Judi Knapp Public Relations was presented the Paul E. Dannelley Harmony Award, which honors an outstanding, longtime member of the public relations profession.
The Clarus Award, which honors a member of the print or broadcast media, was presented to Sharon Dowell, food and restaurant editor at The Daily Oklahoman.
Christina Adcox, corporate communications associate at C.H. Guernsey & Co., was presented with the Outstanding Young Professional Award.
The PRSA Oklahoma City chapter's board for 2000 includes Kevan Goff-Parker, president; Karen Halvorson, president-elect; Pamela Gutel, secretary, and Amanda Spencer, treasurer. Sandra Longcrier will serve as past president, and Clark Bailey will serve the second year of a two-year term as the chapter's assembly delegate. Sherry Kast and Adcox will serve in appointed positions as board members at large.
