General revenues rise by 8.1%

Journal Record, The (Oklahoma City), Apr 11, 2001 by David Page

General revenue collections for the first three-fourths of the fiscal year exceeded the prior year by 8.1 percent and official estimates by 5.5 percent, the Office of State Finance reported Tuesday.

Collections totaled $3.35 billion through March. This was $251.2 million, or 8.1 percent, above the prior year and $173.4 million, or 5.5 percent, above the estimate.

We expect revenue collections to be sufficient to satisfy all our general fund appropriations through the remainder of the fiscal year, said Alison Fraser, deputy director. If the current trend continues, we will finish the year above the estimate, and this would mean that we would make a rainy day fund deposit.

For the month of March, general revenue collections totaled $348.5 million. This is $36.3 million, or 11.6 percent, above March 2000 and $6.1 million, or 1.8 percent, above the estimate.
