Journal Record, The (Oklahoma City), Apr 11, 2001 by David Page

Dobson Cellular Systems has introduced Safety Talk, which features voice-activated dialing and a phone directory with up to 50 phone numbers.

The new service is being offered to Dobson subscribers in select service areas.

The addition of Safety Talk to our portfolio of value-enhancing services will be a time-saver for our subscribers, as well as a safety enhancement for cellular phone callers who need to make calls while driving, said Ed Evans, president and chief operating officer Dobson Cellular Systems.

Safety Talk is available for $2.99 a month either by dialing 611 from a cellular phone or stopping by a Cellular One store. For its Safety Talk service, Dobson is using voice recognition technology from Preferred Voice Inc. of Dallas. Preferred Voice develops and markets voice recognition services including voice activated dialing, voice mail navigation, directory assistance and information content.
