HealthHistories, CCI Technologies enter electronic records agreement
Journal Record, The (Oklahoma City), Oct 10, 2001
BETHANY (JR) -- HealthHistories Inc. has signed an exclusive distribution agreement with CCI Technologies to market a paperless electronic medical records management system.
Under the agreement, which is effective immediately, HealthHistories will market the electronic records management system under a new subsidiary doing business as The Paperless Solution.
"This agreement brings together two cutting-edge paperless systems that will benefit consumers, health care providers and employers," said Stan Martin, founder and president of HealthHistories, which stores password-protected individual medical records both online and on a credit card-size CD called Medical Web Card.
HealthHistories will provide the cards as a value-added benefit to members and employees of nonprofit organizations, chambers of commerce, businesses and churches with The Paperless Solutions growing market share in the Southwest among health care providers, Martin said.
Consumers benefit from the agreement through increased synchronization of personal medical web cards with a growing number of doctors' offices and emergency rooms equipped with the technology, he said.
Health care providers can reduce operational expenses by combining The Paperless Solution and medical web cards that together substantially eliminate the cost of paper, file folders, file cabinets and staff time for manual copying and distribution.
"Some clinics are reporting that using the paperless system has increased staff efficiencies as much as 40 percent," Martin said. "When more people begin walking in with personal medical web cards, these same clinics will experience further cost-cutting advantages.
The cost for the card is a one-time fee of $29.95. After that, the cardholder's first updated card is free and subsequent updated cards are $14.95. Five dollars of each medical card sold through its marketing partners either is donated to a nonprofit organization or rebated to the company.
"Recent published travel tips are now recommending air travelers to carry their medical history, list of current medicines and allergies, and blood type," Martin said. "A HealthHistories medical web card is the most efficient way to be ready for any emergency."
The card is installable in any CD-ROM drive. And, since the cardholder's current medical information is safely and securely available on the HealthHistories Web site with password protection, cardholders have immediate access to their medical information in case of an emergency or when traveling abroad.
Officials said The Paperless Solution enables any size company handling routine and voluminous records for any industry to electronically manage its files in the same manner as it does on paper. Each installed paperless system is customized to the company's record-keeping needs, meaning that company employees do not have to learn new filing or record-keeping methods and resulting in an uninterrupted flow of business activity.
CCI Technologies is a Bethany-based company that markets electronic records management systems to health care providers in Oklahoma and Texas. The Greater Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce last month recognized CCI Technologies as a "Metro 50" company, ranking it one of Oklahoma City's fastest-growing privately owned companies.
HealthHistories, also based in Bethany, currently has cardholders in 38 states and seven countries. Associates represent both HealthHistories and The Paperless Solution in five states: Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, Maryland and California.
