Cox Communications offers Home Networking service

Journal Record, The (Oklahoma City), Feb 21, 2003 by Journal Record Staff

Cox Communications has started offering Home Networking service in the Oklahoma City metro area.

Home Networking includes installation of wired and wireless home networking equipment and 24-hour technical support.

Customers can share their Cox High Speed Internet connection among multiple computers so all of the computers can access the Internet at the same time through one broadband connection. It also enables file sharing, which allows accessing the hard disk of another personal computer on the home network. Plus, built-in security features help guard PCs from hackers.

"By offering affordable hardware and professional installation, Cox can help its customers share the speed of broadband and files among all of the computers in the house," said Dave Bialis, vice president and general manager of Cox Communications Oklahoma. "For some customers, this can mean monthly savings if they've been paying for more than one Internet connection."

More than half of current high-speed Internet customers have an interest in assistance with home networking, he said.

Cox's standard pricing for wireless and wired home networking solutions are $349 and $299. This includes the home networking hardware and software, as well as installation. Both packages include networking for up to four personal computers. For $9.95 per month and a one-year commitment, Home Networking from Cox customers receive 24- hour customer assistance with home networking questions and issues.

Cox Communications Oklahoma serve nearly 520,000 customers statewide and has more than 1,900 employees.
