OK Small Business Development Center offers workshops in Okla. City

A series of workshops has been scheduled for small business owners. The workshops, "The Nuts and Bolts of Business," are being offered in Oklahoma City and Tulsa by the Oklahoma Small Business Development Center and are open to the public by reservation.
The workshops are the result of a partnership between government, nonprofit organizations and educational and financial institutions. Funded in part by a grant from by the U.S. Small Business Administration, the seminars are being offered to participants for $15 for half-day sessions and $25 for full-day events. Costs include instructors, materials and refreshments.
Sponsors include the University of Central Oklahoma, Rose State College, Langston University, Southeastern State University and Northeastern Oklahoma State University.
Hosts of the seminars will be BancFirst, Bank of Oklahoma, the Oklahoma Department of Commerce, the Oklahoma Society of CPAs, the Tulsa Metro Chamber of Commerce, the South Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce, the Edmond Area Chamber of Commerce and the Edmond Economic Development Authority.
Topics will include writing business plans, raising capital to fund growth, establishing affordable sales and marketing plans and how to sell or buy a business, said Tammy Allard, an independent small business specialist who is coordinating the workshop series for Oklahoma Small Business development Center.
"These workshops were designed not only to provide entrepreneurs with the real-world information they need to make their businesses successful, but also to give them an opportunity to interact with other small business owners and to meet service providers with a proven track record of helping clients grow their businesses," Allard said.
