Oklahoma Governor Brad Henry proclaims April as Community Banking
Journal Record, The (Oklahoma City), Apr 19, 2005 by Journal Record Staff
Gov. Brad Henry has proclaimed April as Community Banking Month.
When Oklahoma was being built, community bankers were among the builders, providing financial and planning assistance in towns that grew up to be cities, Henry said. Community banks have always invested in the growth of our townships and since they themselves are small businesses, they understand the needs of small business owners.
The Community Bankers Association of Oklahoma only represents the community banking industry of Oklahoma and deals with legislative, educational, and service issues.
If you go to any town in this state, you will see that community banks continue to be at the core of the financial strength of that city or town, said Chris Jordan, president of Farmers State Bank in Stigler and chairman of the association.
