OK real estate licenses soon to be e-renewable

Journal Record, The (Oklahoma City), Jul 14, 2005 by Janice Francis-Smith

Real estate agents and brokers in Oklahoma will soon be able to renew their licenses online.

It's what our licensees have been asking for, for years, said Lisa Hays, business manager for the Oklahoma Real Estate Commission.

The State Governmental Internet Applications Review Board on Wednesday approved the proposal to allow the commission to provide online renewals in exchange for a convenience fee.

Real estate agents and brokers will also be able to verify their licensing status and information on continuing education requirements at no charge.

The new and improved Web site could be up and running by the end of the calendar year, though at this early stage of development it is hard to estimate an accurate time frame for completion, said Hays.

The Web site is being developed in partnership with Oklahoma's official Web site, www.ok.gov, a public/private partnership of the Oklahoma Office of State Finance and the Oklahoma subsidiary of Kansas-based NIC Inc.

Lisa R. Counts, general manager of www.ok.gov, said new Web pages and improvements are continually being made for various state agencies.

Recent developments include an eBay-style auction site for the Department of Central Services to sell surplus property, an online reporting system to help Indian tribes with gaming operations remain in compliance with the law, and an online training calendar for emergency management personnel.

The Review Board also approved a proposal to allow for online student loan payments using a credit card.
