Oklahoma Natural Gas says February gas bills to decrease
Journal Record, The (Oklahoma City), Jan 30, 2006 by Journal Record Staff
Customers of Oklahoma Natural Gas Co. will likely see about a 16 percent reduction in their gas bills in February because of falling gas prices, the company announced Friday.
The price of gas on February bills will be $9.589 per dekatherm, down from $12.01 per dekatherm in January, according to ONG President Phyllis Worley.
The market conditions that sent natural gas prices higher appear to be easing somewhat, and that's good news for our customers, Worley said.
ONG estimated that a typical residential customer who uses 14 dekatherms next month would save about $35 on the gas bill.
The gas price paid by customers is an average cost of gas ONG acquires through fixed-price and market index-based contracts and gas from storage.
The company does not make a profit on the sale of gas, but through charges for service and delivery of the gas.
We purchase the gas for our customers, and the pay what we pay for it, Worley said. But we're really in the delivery business.
