AMS Health Sciences Inc. names Jerry Grizzle chairman/CEO: Shares up
Journal Record, The (Oklahoma City), Feb 17, 2006 by Jerry Shottenkirk
AMS Health Sciences Inc. on Thursday named Jerry Grizzle chairman and chief executive officer of the nutritional supplement company.
Grizzle was named AMS president of the company on Jan. 25 and has replaced John Hail, founder, chairman and CEO, who retired from his posts on Feb. 12. Hail will continue as a consultant, company officials said.
AMS Health Sciences shares responded favorably Thursday on the American Stock Exchange. The stock price made a 16.13 percent climb from 62 to 72 cents.
Grizzle, 52, is a former president and CEO of Orbit Finer Foods, Skolniks and CD Warehouse. Grizzle left CD Warehouse in October 2001 and was named Commander of Joint Task Force Civil Support until 2004. He retired from the military as a major general of the Oklahoma National Guard in 2005.
Also, AMS board members named Robin Jacob, 40, vice president, secretary, treasurer and chief financial officer. She had been interim CFO since Dec. 9, 2005. Jacob had been controller since 2001 and assistant secretary since 2002.
AMS officials also indicated they have forwarded a plan to the American Stock Exchange to comply with listing standards. Amex had earlier indicated it would consider suspending or delisting securities of AMS. Company officials said Amex has 45 days to make a decision on the plan.
Company stocks were nearly $8 in 2000 and were as high as $6 last year. The company's stock price has made an overall 15-percent increase since Grizzle's appoint as president in late January. Grizzle replaced Steven Kochen, who resigned after about four months with the company.
AMS lost $513,838 in its last quarter, better than the $1 million reportedly lost during the corresponding quarter of 2004. AMS was recently awarded a contract with American Airlines that is expected to boost revenue by $850,000 per year. The company has market capitalization of $5.58 million and sells natural supplements, weight products and natural skin-care products through independent distributors.
