Husband, father, community leader, businessman and attorney - state Sen. Glenn Coffee is a proven advocate for Oklahoma citizens and businesses. Since first elected to the Oklahoma State Senate in 1998, Coffee has helped pass legislation to better protect the public against sex offenders, end inconvenient and outdated vehicle inspection requirements and help consumers fight back against unwanted computer spam. The senator serves on both the Appropriations Subcommittee and Standing Committee on Education, as well as committees on Aerospace, Communications and Technology, Finance, Rules, and Tourism and Wildlife. He also serves as Republican floor leader for the Senate.
I have always enjoyed working with people and learning about new ideas and current issues. As a member of the Legislature, as well as the legal profession, I am privileged to do both. It allows me to do what I enjoy most, which is help people solve problems and achieve their goals, he said.
Coffee is an attorney with Phillips, McFall, McCaffrey, McVay & Murrah and specializes in business, commercial and electronic commerce law. He is seeking re-election to Senate District 30 this year for what would be his third and final Senate term.
If the voters in my district will have me back for a third and final Senate term, my intention is to help Republicans win a majority in that body for the first time in state history. I will also continue to work with my colleagues to enact long-overdue policies that will help our state attract and keep jobs, people, and investments. I intend to continue my law practice during this time, Coffee said. Following the completion of my service in the Senate, I will look for ways to continue to serve the people and interests of the state of Oklahoma - whether in the public or private sector, or perhaps through another elective office.
Coffee received his undergraduate degree in political science from Northeastern State University in 1989 and was named Outstanding Senior. He received his law degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1992.
He is a member of the Oklahoma County, state and American bar associations and is an active member of Leadership Oklahoma, Leadership OKC Fast Track and the NSU Alumni Association. His honors include NSU's 2003 Citation of Merit, Young Alumnus award and recognition by OKC Business as one of its Forty Under 40 that same year.
Coffee lives in Oklahoma City with his wife Lisa and their four children - sons Collin and Blaine and daughters Anna and Kate. They are members of the Heritage Baptist Church.
