Humana begins offering health insurance in Oklahoma

Journal Record, The (Oklahoma City), Oct 2, 2006 by The Journal Record Staff

Humana Inc. has started offering HumanaOne individual health insurance plans in Oklahoma.

"Humana saw an opportunity to offer something of lasting value for consumers at a time when fewer employers are offering health benefits," said Tod Zacharias, president of HumanaOne.

HumanaOne was created for individuals who do not have health insurance through an employer. HumanaOne was introduced in June 2002 and is now available in a total of 24 states.

"In many locations, there are only a handful of companies offering individual health insurance coverage, so our plan should come as welcome news for consumers," said Diane Loram, HumanaOne sales manager for Oklahoma.

HumanaOne offers the HumanaOne Individual Health Plan, an individual major medical plan, and the HumanaOne HSA, a high deductible health plan compatible with a personal health savings account.

Humana, through the ChoiceCare Network, Humana's national PPO network, contracts with more than 300,000 health care providers in all 50 states.
