Balancing faith and politics subject of upcoming WorkDay Escape at

Journal Record, The (Oklahoma City), Oct 19, 2006 by Journal Record Staff

Providing voters with tools to help them make balanced decisions during the upcoming elections will be the subject of the WorkDay Escape for young professionals at St. Luke's United Methodist Church at noon on Monday.

Participants will hear from Phil Greenwald, minister of administration at St. Luke's, and a former politician himself.

Greenwald will lay out the structure of Oklahoma government and help put a realistic grasp on what the Nov. 7 election is all about.

St. Luke's senior pastor, Bob Long, said it is important to have a voice in the community and in state politics.

"Faith and politics can be a tricky balance to find because of all the media that surrounds the candidates," said Long. "My recommendation is to be informed on the issues and make your voice heard."

WorkDay Escape is a group of young professionals who meet twice a month to hear from community leaders and business owners on topics relevant to their lifestyle and workplace. The noontime events are free and open to the public. Lunch is provided for $5 or participants may bring a sack lunch.

St. Luke's is located at 222 NW 15th in Oklahoma City. More information may be obtained from Ashlea Brack at (405) 609-1027 or by e-mail at abrack@stlukesokc.org.
