University of Oklahoma Regents to meet

Phase III of the Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium expansion will be among the projects discussed by the OU Board of Regents at its regular meeting today and Thursday in Lawton.

Other projects on the agenda include Phase II of the Gaylord Hall project for the University of Oklahoma Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication and the purchase of centralized wireless administration equipment for the OU Norman campus.

The meeting will begin at 3:30 p.m. today at Cameron University in Lawton with items submitted by the University of Oklahoma. The meeting will continue at 9:30 a.m. Thursday with items submitted by Rogers State University and then Cameron University.

The three-story addition to Gaylord Hall would add 42,000 gross square feet of space including computer labs, offices, a commons area, seminar rooms, a 180-person auditorium and a studio with support areas.

The second-floor space will be developed to simulate an advertising agency/public relations firm. The third floor will include the graduate program offices and the Institute for Research and Training.

Phase III of the Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium project includes the construction of additional restroom and concession facilities at the north and field-level west concourses of the stadium and the expansion and refurbishment of several areas of the football program offices located on the third level of the Barry Switzer Center to provide additional office and staff meeting space. The project also includes the installation of a brick and wrought iron-type fencing system surrounding the football practice field complex similar to other recently completed fencing.

The next regular meeting of the OU Board of Regents is Dec. 5 and 6 in Norman.
