Emergency management officials to meet in Oklahoma City

More than 350 state emergency management directors, homeland security personnel and other representatives of security agencies are expected to attend the National Emergency Management Association's conference scheduled Friday-Tuesday at the Cox Business Services Convention Center in Oklahoma City.

On Sunday, officials with the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry will lead a discussion on agriculture disasters. Workshops are scheduled on immigration, disaster mitigation programs and best practices for integrating the private sector into emergency response and recovery.

Conference speakers will include Oklahoma Lt. Gov. Jari Askins; David Paulison, administrator, Federal Emergency Management Agency; Dennis Schrader, deputy administrator, National Preparedness Directorate, FEMA; Vickie Nadolski, acting deputy director, National Weather Service; Glen Woodbury, director, Center for Homeland Defense and Security, Naval Postgraduate School; and Don Hamilton, executive director, Memorial Institute for the Prevention of Terrorism.
