Former congressman to speak on Constitution's relevance

OKLAHOMA CITY (JR) - Former Oklahoma U.S. Rep. Mickey Edwards will deliver a lecture next Tuesday at the Oklahoma City University School of Law, entitled "Does the Constitution Matter Anymore? Separation of Powers in the New Century." Edwards will speak at 5 p.m. in the Homsey Family Moot Courtroom.

A lecturer at the Princeton University Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs, Edwards is also a vice president of the Aspen Institute, where he serves as director of its Rodel leadership program for elected officials.

An attorney and 1970 OCU law graduate, Edwards served 16 years representing Oklahoma in the U.S. House of Representatives.

After leaving Congress, he taught government and public policy at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, moving to Princeton in 2004. He has also taught at Harvard Law School and served as a visiting professor at Georgetown University's Public Policy Institute.

Edwards' appearance is sponsored by the OCU law school's chapters of The Federalist Society and the American Constitution Society.
