Oklahoma City University attorney William Conger to take OBA reins

Oklahoma City University general counsel William Conger will serve as president of the Oklahoma Bar Association beginning in January.

Conger, who also teaches trial advocacy, introduction to legal practice and complex litigation at the OCU School of Law, will be sworn into office in January.

Conger succeeds as president Stephen Beam of Weatherford, who will remain a member of the OBA Board of Governors for one year as immediate past president.

Jon K. Parsley, Guymon, will serve as president-elect in 2008, becoming president the following year.

Conger is of counsel to and a founding partner of the Hartzog Conger Cason and Neville law firm in Oklahoma City.

He earned a bachelor's degree in history from the University of Oklahoma in 1967. He attended Louisiana State University for two years, and received his law degree from the OU College of Law in 1971.

Conger is a past president of the Oklahoma County Bar Association.

Elected to the board of governors were Jerry McCombs, Idabel; Mark Hixson, Yukon; and Jack Brown, Tulsa.

Their elections were announced Friday at the 2007 annual meeting of the OBA in Oklahoma City.
