Oklahoma Department of Transportation battles flooding
Journal Record, The (Oklahoma City), Jun 10, 2008 by Janice Francis-Smith
Due to flooding in the construction zone for the Interstate 40 Crosstown realignment project, the Oklahoma Department of Transportation has closed South Lincoln Boulevard between Reno Avenue and the Chesapeake Boathouse.
To reach the boathouse, motorists can take Eastern Avenue south to SE 15th Street, head west to Lincoln Boulevard/Byers Avenue and north to the boathouse.
ODOT officials reported closing numerous locations throughout the state on Monday due to high water, in Oklahoma, Kay, Cherokee, Noble, Canadian, Nowata, Tulsa, Osage and Washington counties. Motorists are advised against driving into water when it covers a roadway.
ODOT had previously been routing heavy trucks to Eastern Avenue, but due to flooding conditions in the construction zone, all vehicles traveling on South Lincoln will be routed to Eastern until further notice.
