Consulting firm Hutchinson Group gains Tulsa partner
Journal Record, The (Oklahoma City), Jul 3, 2008 by Heather Caliendo
A nationwide business-consulting firm is expanding its services to Green Country. Kevin Breeding of Tulsa just signed on as Hutchinson Group's newest partner.
Breeding said the company had been talking with him about developing a Tulsa office for quite some time. He had worked with the group as a private contractor for two years.
"It just makes sense with the great oil and gas presence," he said. "It's a great market; it allows us to service a lot of the surrounding markets from Dallas to Kansas City."
Hutchinson Group provides advisory services for companies and organizational executives. Breeding said the partners cover several sectors, including government, finance and health care.
"For example, we want to make sure we are helping our clients with changes that will happen in the government side, no matter which way the election falls," he said. "We want to make sure our clients understand how that affects business."
Breeding said his primary expertise consists of marketing, brand strategy and crisis communication. He previously held the title as director of advertising for Wal-Mart Stores Inc., International Division. While serving that position, he led marketing and brand strategy teams in eight countries. Since some of his work involves increasing Hutchinson Group's international market, Breeding said that experience will help him find clients with an international connection.
Asa Hutchinson, CEO of Hutchinson Group, said Breeding fits the specific range of experience needed to serve a broad range of clients from major international corporations to startup technology firms. Hutchinson was the first undersecretary of border and transportation at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and started the company in 2005.
Breeding is the second partner Hutchinson Group has signed in the past few months. The group recently added a partner in North Carolina at the beginning of June.
Hutchinson Group has 10 full-time employees and about 20 contractors. Breeding said the contracting relationships allow clients to have resources at their disposal without the overhead costs.
The company is in the process of finding an office for Breeding. He said the plan is to have a full physical support staff and to eventually expand the office with more partners in Tulsa.
"It's a great location for us and we hope to be a good corporate citizen for a long time," he said.
