Journal Record, The (Oklahoma City), Mar 12, 2009
The Edison Electric Institute has presented Public Service Company of Oklahoma with the Emergency Recovery Award for restoring electric service to its customers after an ice storm in late 2007.
Restoration crews had to replace 18 miles of transmission line and 189 miles of distribution line.
"PSO did a tremendous job restoring power to its service territory quickly and safely," said EEI President Thomas R. Kuhn. "The company's effort is emblematic of the utility industry's commitment to getting the lights back on as soon as possible in the wake of major storms."
Tulsa-based PSO serves 527,000 customers in Oklahoma.
