25 Tulsa entrepreneurs to make Spirit Award presentations

Journal Record, The (Oklahoma City), Jun 10, 2009

Twenty-five Tulsa entrepreneurs have been selected from more than 85 submissions to present business plans to judges on July 8 and 9.

"The Mayor's Entrepreneurial Spirit Award will give entrepreneurs the opportunity to start and expand their businesses as well as provide coaching on developing a successful business model," Tulsa Mayor Kathy Taylor said.

After the businesses make seven-minute presentations, judges will identify the 12 business models for the semifinal round. The 12 semifinalists will be assigned a head coach who will connect them to resources to help polish their business plan and presentations.

"This year the quality of entrepreneurial and small business endeavors submitted is going to challenge the judges to identify a winner," said Sean Griffin, 2009 Mayor's Entrepreneurial Spirit Award chair and judge.

On Nov. 17, the Entrepreneurial Spirit Award winner will be presented $30,000. Awards are $5,000 for second place and $2,500 for third place, which is being provided by SpiritBank.
