Verizon Communications hires four vendors to supply fiber for new

With plans to supply three million homes with fiber-optic connections by 2005, Verizon Communications, the nation's largest telecommunications company, this week hired four vendors to supply the fiber for its fiber-to-premise project. The dominant telecom company in Maryland, Verizon hired Corning Inc., ADC Telecommunications Inc., Preformed Line Products Co. and Tyco International Ltd.
