MD Dept. of Natural Resources prepares for bear hunt

Daily Record, The (Baltimore), Jul 7, 2004 by Staff

As the state Department of Natural Resources prepares for Maryland's first bear hunt in 51 years, it also is preparing for a lawsuit challenging the hunt, a DNR official said. We'd be remiss not to prepare for it, Robert Beyer, associate director of the agency's Wildlife and Heritage Service, told the Cumberland Times-News last week.

In a story published Sunday, Beyer said he expects hunting opponents to challenge a hunt if the DNR authorizes one, which could happen later this month.
