Researchers at Johns Hopkins University say to take an aspirin a day

Daily Record, The (Baltimore), Mar 22, 2006 by Daily Record Staff

> Researchers at Johns Hopkins University have found a daily dose of 81 milligrams of acetyl salicylic acid, or aspirin, prevents the clumping together in both men and women of clot-forming blood cells, called platelets, which can cause heart attacks and strokes. The study, published yesterday in the online edition of the Journal of the American Medical Association, appears to contradict other recent studies that showed low-dose aspirin had no effect in preventing heart attacks in women, even though it worked in men.
