Maryland boards announce staffing changes: August 11, 2006

John Savich, director of the St. Mary's County Department of Economic and Community Development, was elected president of the Maryland Economic Development Association (MEDA) at the organization's annual conference. In previous years, he served as vice president, secretary and membership co-chair, and in 2004 he was a member of Maryland's Development Capacity Task Force. Timothy R. Troxell, executive director of the Hagerstown-Washington County Economic Development Commission, was chosen as MEDA's vice president. Other association officers for 2006-2007 are: Kendl P. Philbrick, secretary; Sean Looney, treasurer; and Marie S. Keegin, immediate past president.

Vistage International, the world's largest CEO membership organization, has named Phil Gallagher as a Vistage group chair in Baltimore. As a group chair, Gallagher will build and facilitate groups of CEOs that meet monthly to discuss key issues, share expertise and seek confidential help in solving critical business situations. He has 20 years of experience in sales and marketing, training and development, intellectual property and organizational development. Gallagher joins a community of six Vistage chairs and more than 200 members in Baltimore and surrounding communities.

The Canton Thursday chapter of Business Network International (BNI) has made Lance Johnson of 1st Mariner Bank its new vice president. BNI is an international word-of-mouth referral organization with over 4,100 chapters in 26 countries and currently over 100 chapters in Maryland & D.C. Other members of the executive team for the Canton chapter of BNI include: President Jeremy Fennema of JSE Advanced Nutraceuticals; Secretary/Treasurer Ida Cheinman of Substance151; and Membership Coordinator Charles Goldberg of Ambassador Services.
