Baltimore-area pest-control company settles sexual harassment

A Baltimore-area pest control company will pay $30,000 to settle a sexual harassment lawsuit brought by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the agency said. In the lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court in Baltimore, the EEOC charged Home Paramount Pest Control Inc. failed to take action on an office administrator's complaints of co-worker harassment and ultimately fired her.

The two- year consent decree enjoins Home Paramount from engaging in harassment on the basis of sex and from retaliating against employees who complain about it. The employer also will revise its sexual harassment policy, train its managers and employees in Maryland and post a notice.
