Lockheed Martin Corp. to reduce weight of the new VH-71 presidential

Lockheed Martin Corp., of Bethesda, the world's largest defense company, is working to reduce the weight of the new VH-71 presidential helicopter to meet requirements, the Navy said. The U.S. Government Accountability Office said in a March 30 report the aircraft exceeded the limit by 1,200 pounds, without giving the actual weight.
The presidential helicopter contract was awarded in January 2005 and is valued at as much as $6.1 billion.
