Daily Record, The (Baltimore), Apr 11, 2007
Allegheny Energy Inc.'s Potomac Electric Co. issued a request for bids to provide electricity to the utility's Virginia customers for 11 months starting in July. The utility seeks a so-called full- requirements contract that will supply 614 megawatts of electricity, or enough to provide power to all of the utility's Virginia consumers, Greenberg, Pa.-based Allegheny said in a statement on its Web site.
One megawatt is enough to supply about 800 U.S. homes. Allegheny subsidiaries supply power to about 1.5 million customers in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia.
