EEOC lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in Baltimore settled

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission office in Baltimore on Monday announced a settlement of its employment discrimination suit against Chesapeake Bay Golf Club LP, which operates golf courses in Northeast and Rising Sun. According to the suit filed in U.S. District Court in Baltimore, the golf club engaged in sex discrimination when it fired Dawn Nowak, its restaurant and banquet manager, because of her pregnancy.

The club agreed to pay Nowak an undisclosed sum, provide training to managers and employees regarding employment discrimination, and comply with federal anti- discrimination laws, particularly those regarding sex discrimination and pregnancy discrimination.
