Maryland-based Hanger Orthopedic Group Inc. reports first-quarter

Hanger Orthopedic Group Inc., of Bethesda, a provider of orthotic and prosthetic patient care services, announced a turnaround in its fiscal picture, reporting first-quarter net income of $1.4 million, or 6 cents per diluted share, versus a net loss of $736,000, or 3 cents per diluted share, for the year-ago period.

Revenue rose to $143.9 million from $140.4 million in the 2006 period. The revenue growth was primarily the result of a $3.3 million, or 2.6 percent, increase in same-center sales in its patient care business, the company said.
