Baltimore-based Lupin drug receives OK from FDA

Lupin Pharmaceuticals Inc., of Baltimore, the U.S. subsidiary of an Indian pharmaceutical manufacturer, said it received Food and Drug Administration approval of its application to market simvastatin tablets in 10, 20, 40 and 80 milligram doses. Lupin said its simvastatin tablets are the generic equivalent of Merck & Co.'s Zocor tablets for treatment of high cholesterol.
