Southern Maryland Stadium and Entertainment Complex contract awarded

Daily Record, The (Baltimore), May 25, 2007

The Charles County Commissioners announced the awarding of a construction contract for the planned Southern Maryland Stadium and Entertainment Complex near Waldorf to Skanska USA Building Inc., of Parsippany, N.J. The complex will consist of a 4,500-seat stadium for minor league baseball - to be the home of the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs of the Atlantic League - and other sports, and a multi- functional entertainment complex.

The $25.6 million project cost is to be split three ways, with Charles County, the state of Maryland and Maryland Baseball LLC each contributing about $8.5 million. Charles County will be the sole owner of the facility, which is slated to open in June or July of 2008.
