Germantown-based WeatherBug develops new mapplet for Google Maps
Daily Record, The (Baltimore), Jul 12, 2007
WeatherBug, the Germantown-based provider of live, local weather information, has developed a new mapplet for Google Maps. Available now in the "My Maps" tab on maps.google.com, the WeatherBug mapplet puts temperature markers on the map from WeatherBug's proprietary network of WeatherBug Tracking Stations and weather sensors worldwide.
The mapplet also includes the delivery of severe weather alerts, traffic and live camera images, mashing up relevant elements for users to make more informed decisions. The WeatherBug mapplet was launched via a new feature on Google Maps that enables third- party developers to create mini-applications that can be added to Google Maps. Users can now combine information from multiple sites on the same map.
