Silver Springs-based WorldSpace Inc. links with Fiat Group

WorldSpace Inc., of Silver Spring, a provider of satellite-based digital radio programming outside the United States, announced a joint marketing agreement with Fiat Group Automobiles, of Turin, Italy. Under the agreement, WorldSpace will begin in late 2008 to broadcast commercial-free music, news, entertainment and sports programming throughout Italy on 40 to 50 channels, one of which will be exclusively reserved for Fiat's dealers and customers for promotional and customer-assistance services.
Late in 2009, Fiat will install WorldSpace satellite radios as optional equipment in some of its Fiat, Alfa Romeo and Lancia models, as well as offer portable satellite radio receivers as aftermarket equipment.
