Ellicott City-based Integrated Circuit acquired by Texas Instruments

Texas Instruments Inc., the world's biggest maker of chips that run mobile phones, said it purchased Ellicott City-based Integrated Circuit Designs Inc., acquiring semiconductors that reduce power use in wireless devices. Terms were not disclosed. Integrated Circuit, a closely held company with 16 employees, specializes in radio- frequency chips that use less energy.
The acquisition will allow Dallas-based Texas Instruments to make wireless keyboards, computer mice, game devices and alarm systems more energy efficient.
