Bethesda-based USEC's carbon fiber pact

USEC Inc., of Bethesda, a global energy company that supplies enriched uranium fuel for commercial nuclear power plants, said it has entered into a four-year manufacturing supply agreement, worth approximately $100 million, with Hexcel Corp. and Alliant Techsystems Inc. for carbon fiber for rotor tubes to be used in USEC's American Centrifuge uranium enrichment plant in Piketon, Ohio.
Under the agreement, Hexcel, which supplies structural materials for the aerospace industry, will produce carbon fiber and deliver it to Alliant, which will use it to manufacture composite rotor tubes, USEC said.
